Leila Turner, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND), grew up in Northern California and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a Bachelor's in Biology and Psychology. She graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) in 2007 and is licensed as a general family practitioner and is considered an expert in women's health. Please tell me about your practice?

Since 2016, I have practiced at Living Wellness Medical Center in Arcadia. My focus is on women's health and I like to embody partnership and use joint decision making while creating a realistic treatment plan for my patients. We have a team of five practitioners at Living Wellness and I am a mentor for a 2 year residency program.

How did you get into Naturopathic Medicine?

I grew up in a small town in Northern California, it was small but we did have an acupuncturist and I started going for acupuncture when I was 12. If I, or someone in my family, got sick we would take herbs and use alternative medicine. I loved it and knew that I wanted to become a naturopathic physician.

What have you learned along the way?

I have learned that communication is key. I focus on compassionate and clear communication which created a safe space. I also believe in communication with my colleagues and other businesses. In naturopathic medicine there is a the Docere Principle with means doctor as teacher and I try to embody that.

How can your practice benefit our patient base?

I primarily treat women and can service as their primary care physician providing yearly physicals, routine exams and blood work, and pap exams. I specialize in hormone replacement therapy and can offer the more traditional HRT and bio identical hormones.

Anything else you would like to add?

I love acupuncture and think that naturopathic and Eastern medicine are a great fit especially for women wanting to work with their hormones. I also provide a free 10 minute consultation to see if my services are a good fit for someone.
